Chiyoda-ku Aikikai is an aikido organization for working adults, conducting regular practice primarily in the Kanda area of Tokyo.
Throughout our long history, we have inherited both technique and spirit from many distinguished instructors.
Beginners, experienced practitioners, and visitors from Japan and abroad are all warmly welcome.
Regardless of age or experience, we sincerely look forward to meeting new members.

Aikido becomes more fascinating the longer you continue your practice. Beyond learning techniques, you naturally improve posture, breathing, and body movement, which carry over into daily life. Moving in harmony with a partner—without relying on strength—offers a refreshing experience, even for beginners.

Aikido is a martial art that refreshes both mind and body through gentle, natural movement. Regular practice improves circulation and posture, leaving you feeling energized and clear. As your abilities grow step by step, confidence and a sense of well-being naturally follow.

Aikido can be practiced at any age and allows you to progress at your own pace. With no competitions, there is no need to compare yourself with others, making it easy to continue even if you are returning to exercise. Enjoyable practice naturally builds fitness and focus, supporting a lifelong journey.
Founded in 1972, Chiyoda-ku Aikikai is a dojo for working adults affiliated with the Aikikai Hombu Dojo.
Our practice follows the lineage of Hombu instructors Mitsugu Saotome, Seigo Yamaguchi, and Seijuro Masuda.
We are dedicated to the daily pursuit of natural, relaxed, and fluid aikido.
With many senior practitioners among our members, we offer careful and varied instruction.
We actively exchange with aikido practitioners from around the world and welcome many international visitors.
In recent years, more beginners have joined us, and people of all ages, genders, experience levels, and nationalities can learn aikido in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Mitsugu Saotome Shihan studied directly under Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido. After many years of teaching as an instructor at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, he is currently based in the United States. He taught at Chiyoda-ku Aikikai from its founding in 1972 until 1975.
Seigo Yamaguchi Shihan (1924–1996) studied under Morihei Ueshiba and served as an instructor at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo from the 1960s through the 1990s. After Saotome Shihan moved to the United States, he assumed responsibility for instruction at Chiyoda-ku Aikikai.
Seijuro Masuda Shihan (1936–2023) devoted himself to the study of aikido from a young age and dedicated many years to teaching future generations as an instructor at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. He began teaching at Chiyoda-ku Aikikai in 1998.
Takeshi Yamashima Shihan studied under the late Sadateru Arikawa Shihan (Aikikai 9th Dan) and Seigo Yamaguchi Shihan (Aikikai 9th Dan), and has devoted more than sixty years to the study of aikido. He is also well versed in Shinkage-ryu, a classical school of swordsmanship, and is highly regarded worldwide for his heavy yet soft aikido that emphasizes the use of the hips. For many years, he has conducted international seminars throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia, passing on the aikido of the Founder, Morihei Ueshiba, to the world and to future generations.
